Bursting Back to Life

36”x48”

Acrylic, Marker, Graphite

As a mother I devote much of my time to making sure my family has everything they need.It is easy to neglect myself, especially during the high need moments where everything seems to be in chaos.I miraculously found a pocket of time to paint in the middle of tending to everyone else’s needs. It was an amazing and refreshing moment for me, but it was also very short-lived.Because of this, my painting session was very self-indulgent: I didn’t feel like painting to please anyone except myself.I wanted it to look loose and uninhibited, and I wanted to release all the emotions and exhaustion from the week onto my canvas.During that moment I felt like I was bursting back to life.
